Terms.

I love the simple but detailed explanations of workplace terminology.

My head used to spin with the terms people would roll out at work, afraid to show how dumb I was. Now I have my ipad in meetings and search TPM as they talk - I then join the conversation confidently. Love your work!

Keep the great articles and explanations coming.    Lucy W.

When I was promoted to be the Managing Director of the small business I worked for I had no idea how to manage at that level or get the change happening that I wanted in the business. Luckily someone recommended The Practice of Management site.

Your processes made it seem easy - it should be taught in Universities.   Mike O.

Welcome!

READ THIS FIRST: In the simplest form a Manager has to have what are called the preconditions of work. These are Resources - People, Materials, Machines and Methods. A Manager then deploys policies, rules and instructions to the workers to achieve the required business outcomes. The workers also provide feedback to assist in fine tuning both policy and process.

How accurately and quickly this communication takes place is the true judgement of a Manager as to whether they are great or not. The rewards of having an effective and efficient system are many. Promotion, satisfaction and certainly success.

If you are interested in understanding how to practice great management, strive for perfection both personally and as a leader then this is the site that you will enjoy exploring.

Management Systems

We will take you deep into the knowledge, understanding and implementation of Management Systems. Building these systems in your own workplace will not be easy. If it was everyone would be doing it. Few understand them at all. If I was to ask you to describe your system of management, would you be able to? Probably not. Mastering the deployment of a management system, seeing the outcomes is not to be missed.

The diagram below identifies the high level, key areas we are going to explore and discuss in the articles on this site.
